Split Kings are becoming much more common due to their increasingly use in Adjustable Beds. They are also popular for couples wanting to eliminate movement transfer, the ability to have different levels of support on each sized of the bed, and the ability to combine them into a King or separated them into two individual Beds.
For quilts - if couples have the two beds combined, they often use a King or Super King size quilt (will drape nicely over the size). If the mattresses are positioned separately then most people will use a single size quilt.
Sheet sets often come in both Long Single and Split King sizes which can become confusing.
Long Single Sheet sets - Usually consist of 1 Long Single flat sheet + 1 fitted sheet + 1 Pillowcase
Split King Sheet sets - Usually consist of 1 King Bed flat sheet + 2 Long Single fitted sheets + 2 Pillowcase
Note: Confusingly King Single (106x203 cm) is another standard Australian bed size - however bedding for this mattress size will be too wide for a Split King and is therefore not suitable.
