Bongo Rx EPAP Sleep Apnea Therapy Device

Millions of people suffer from OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). If left untreated, this sleep disorder can be detrimental to your health and your quality of life. That's why AirAvant Medical has introduced the Bongo Rx - the next leap in sleep therapy.

Innovative Treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

The innovative Bongo Rx is a sleek FDA-cleared EPAP device designed for the treatment of mild to moderate OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). Its soft silicone nasal pillows form a seal just inside the nasal openings.

  • When inhaling, small valves in the OSA nasal device open to allow you to breathe normally.
  • When exhaling, the valves close, which directs exhaled air through precisely sized vent holes to generate EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure).

This keeps your airway open until you inhale again, thereby reducing the effects of OSA.

Consequences of Sleep Apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a serious sleep disorder where a patient experiences pauses in breathing during sleep, which are associated with partial closure (hypopnea) or complete closure (apnea) of the throat (i.e. upper airway). Symptoms include:

  • loud snoring
  • morning headaches
  • repeatedly waking up gasping
  • choking

Obstructive sleep apnea may increase the risk of multiple health problems such as:

  • excessive daytime sleepiness and fatigue
  • impaired cognitive function
  • heart disease
  • high blood pressure
  • stroke
  • diabetes

Bongo Rx is a reusable nasal EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure) device that is designed to be comfortable  and easy to use. Convenient and discreet, the Bongo Rx requires no machine, hoses, electricity, or batteries.

You may have used other sleep apnea devices or even other EPAP devices in the past, but the Bongo Rx is unique in that it provides an exceptionally simple yet effective treatment for sleep apnea.

We suggest to wear the Bongo Rx the first night while you are reading or watching TV to get used to breathing on the device. The Bongo Rx All Sizes Kit also comes with a headgear, a travel case, and a drying stand.

How does Bongo Rx work?

The innovative Bongo Rx is a simple FDA-cleared EPAP device that has soft nasal pillows that seal just inside the nasal openings.

During inhalation, small valves open to allow you to breathe normally through the device.

During exhalation, the valves close, directing exhaled air through specifically designed vent holes to generate EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure), which keeps your airway open until you inhale again.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) experience the collapsing of the airway during sleep. This causes a decrease or a stop in airflow during sleep, despite an ongoing effort to breathe. Symptoms include loud snoring, abrupt awakenings accompanied by gasping and choking, morning headaches, and excessive daytime sleepiness.

Breathe Easy With Bongo Rx

Bongo Rx provides obstructive sleep apnea treatment by opening up a patient's airway. When a patient breathes out, exhaled air is directed through vents designed to generate EPAP which keeps the patient's airway open until they breathe in. This process promotes uninterrupted breathing throughout the night.

How to use Bongo Rx

Simply insert the Bongo Rx EPAP device into the nostrils - there are no hoses or mask to deal with in this simple sleep apnea nasal device. The soft silicone inserts will form a positive seal within the nasal openings. The starter kit includes all sizes to help you find the size that fits you best.

Breathe Normally - As you inhale, small valves in the nasal EPAP device open, allowing you to breathe normally through the device. It works by creating back pressure, known as expiratory positive airway pressure or EPAP, when a patient exhales. This pressure keeps the airway from collapsing; the airway stays open until the next inhalation. An unobstructed airway allows for easy breathing and better sleep.

EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure) - As you exhale, the valves at the bottom of your Bongo Rx will close. This directs exhaled air through vent holes to generate EPAP, which keeps your airway open until you breathe in again.

Works partially; pricey
Only partially reduces my snoring, but at least it does that. I’ve got quite used to wearing them and really barely notice that they are in. However overly expensive for what it is. Headband stretches after a few months but the replacement kit only comes with one strap. For that price there should be 4 straps as well as the 4 nose plugs. (Posted on )

Great for travel
I was skeptical at first but it does help with my moderate sleep apnea. My O2 sat is not as high as when on CPAP, but stays above 90%. I wake up more during the night but have only been using this less than a week, so hoping my body will adjust. The only major complaint I have is I get rainout with the Bongo (it has been humid where I am though), so I wear a thin headband around my face and position it just below my nostrils to help soak up the water so it doesn't feel as gross. Other than that it seems to work fine and would be the easiest thing to travel with! (Posted on )

Quality product but struggling to get used to using it
Hi, I feel that I need to give an honest review about this product. I’ve been attempting to use my Sleep Apnea Bongos for around 10 days and I’m really struggling to get used to the change in breathing which occurs when you are using them. The Bongos themselves are definitely a quality product and I’m really happy to give them a go. I just think I need to persevere a bit longer. The other trouble is that they keep falling out during the night.
I find them in all sorts of interesting places! Probably need to use the head strap. I’ve never been a mouth breather but I’ve been waking up with a very dry mouth which makes me think that I’ve started mouth breathing to compensate. (Posted on )

Used mouth tape
I found a good mouth tape and it’s finally working. I’m a mouth breather sometimes, but my doctor said I would close my mouth with this. Guess what? Wifey said I started snoring when my mouth opened. I needed the tape.
